I was never involved in a potential title clincher against Rangers but I do think that for supporters in particular it just makes the game that little bit more loaded.

From a Celtic point of view, they will be desperate to go out and get the league won.

I maintain that for me it is all about winning it regardless of who you win it against but there is an added edge to proceedings. I have to say that I was surprised at how passive Rangers were when the teams met at Hampden in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final the other weekend.

I thought that they would have had a bit of fight about them but Celtic ran all over the top of them. Unless Rangers turn up with a different attitude, and a different way of playing then exactly the same thing will happen on Sunday.

I don’t know if Graeme Murty felt undermined by the actions of Dave King in the lead-up to that game and you do wonder whether this week is similar again.

The news that Steven Gerrard is in the mix for the Rangers job has dominated the news agenda for the past few days and I don’t think there is any question that if you are in a job and trying to get the best out of your players that it can undermine your efforts.

It depends how much he takes on and how much he allows just to sail over his head. Hibs offered a lesson in how to play against Celtic last Saturday through at Easter Road.

They didn’t allow Celtic to settle for a minute and you would have been hard pressed to pick a Celtic player who performed well. But I suspect that Rodgers will go more or less with the same side who beat Rangers at Hampden - and I would expect to see a very similar performance.

Rangers will turn up looking to roll the sleeves up and stop the party but I think that if Celtic turn up then they should win it. I do think it might be a bit tighter than the Cup game that we saw.

Moussa Dembele was unplayable that afternoon. These are the kind of games where the Frenchman really gets going and it will be interesting to see if Rangers are able to get a better handle on him.

Dembele gave the Rangers defence a torrid time and there is something about this particular fixture that he seems to relish. The same goes for Brendan Rodgers too.

He knows what this game will mean to everyone who is in the ground on Sunday afternoon. he can appreciate what it will mean to the support to go out and win the title against Rangers.

It is such a rare opportunity but for all that there is emotion involved when you are paying your money and turning up to support the team, I think that Brendan will ensure that the focus of the players is on the game and not the occasion.

It is a fantastic achievement for them to go and win a seventh consecutive title and I have to say that I think Brendan will be the man who is there to deliver the tenth.

I think the fact that Dermot Desmond was so relaxed when he was asked about the interest from Arsenal told a story in itself. I know some people felt as though that was a silly thing to do but I took the opposite view.

To me it is a measure of Desmond that he will always play fair but ultimately I think he could say what he said because he is well aware that Brendan will be going nowhere.

You just never know in football and the alacrity with which things can change is notable but I think it is more than just rhetoric when you hear Rodgers talking about how content he is on and off the pitch.

The next challenge for him will come in the Champions League and the chance to go and make an impression in the group stages. I think he will look to get one or two players in during the summer to enhance Celtic ahead of the qualifiers but I just don’t expect him to be going anywhere soon.
