ROY HODGSON has urged Steven Gerrard to do his 'due diligence' before joining Rangers.
The 37-year-old is in talks to become the next Light Blues boss.
Hodgson worked with Gerrard at Liverpool and England and said: “Stevie has done an apprenticeship by working with the youth team at Liverpool but I wouldn’t give him any other advice other than to do the due diligence and if he thinks it’s the right job, to make certain he believes in himself, like I would certainly believe in him.

“Then, of course, I would say don’t be afraid to make phone calls to previous managers or other friends in the game to ask for a bit of advice from time to time.
“You can’t be too proud to ask for a little bit of advice if you think it’s going to be useful to you, but I don’t think you want that advice thrust upon you just as you’re about to take the job."
