GERARD HOULLIER reckons a move to Rangers would be a positive step for Steven Gerrard as he looks to progress as a coach.
Gerrard worked alongside the Frenchman during his spell at Liverpool.
And Houllier has urged the 37-year-old to make the most of his chance at Ibrox.
Houllier said: “He’s got to make sure that he has enough money to buy good players.
“It is better to play with good players than bad players. Be honest, be yourself, never forget that leadership is a transfer of emotions.
“If he’s sad the team will be sad. If he’s upbeat the team will be upbeat. If he believes in himself and the players, they will know that and they will respond to that.
“If he takes on Rangers, he will have more responsibility. It will be better in his development to become a coach”.
