JASON CUMMINGS has set his sights on a return to Ibrox and a place in Steven Gerrard’s Rangers revolution next season.

The striker moved north of the border on loan deal from Nottingham Forest in January and has scored six goals for the Light Blues.

Tomorrow’s trip to Easter Road could prove to be his final game for the Gers, though, and he faces an uncertain future this summer.

But Cummings is determined to impress incoming boss Gerrard and earn an extended stay with Rangers next term.

He said: “I’ve loved it here, it’s been good and something I will never regret.

“Especially when I am older I will look back and say, ‘I played for Rangers.’

“It’s a massive club and something I will tell my grandchildren about.

“I’m not too sure what the future holds. Personally, I want to stay here but there’s a lot behind the scenes that needs to happen.

“I am hoping I will be here next season, I am hoping it’s just the beginning for me here. You never know what can happen in football.

“Listen, even without someone like Steven Gerrard coming in I’d want to stay here.

“It’s a massive, unique football club. I’ve loved it up here, I am back with my family and my mates and I’m settled.

“I haven’t played as much as I would have wanted to but I can see my future is here at Rangers.

“I haven’t really spoken to Forest as such, and as things stand I will be going back there for pre-season.

“Of course, if Rangers and Forest were to come to an agreement that would change but I can’t be involved in that.

“All I know is that this is where I want to be, I want to be here next season.”

Gerrard will be backed by the Gers board in the transfer market this summer as he is given funds to bolster his ranks ahead of the new campaign.

And Cummings would like to see the Light Blues make a move to bring midfielder John McGinn to Ibrox for Gerrard’s first crack at the Premiership.

He said: “I was actually with McGinn [on Thursday]. I tried to get him to come.

“I’m not too sure if that will go through but I hope it does, because I have played with him for years and he is a good mate of mine.

“I was trying to force him to come, but I don’t know what he’ll do to be honest.

“Honestly, I’m not too sure what he is doing. You are interviewing the wrong guy.

“You’ll need to ask him. I’d love to see him here, though.”
