JORDAN ROSSITER is determined to finally make his mark for Rangers next season as he gets set to work under the guidance of former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

The midfielder has been beset by injury problems since making the move from Anfield two years ago and has been limited to just 11 appearances in Light Blue.

But he returned to the side against Hibernian on Sunday and hit his first goal for the Gers in a remarkable 5-5 draw at Easter Road.

Now the countdown is on to a new era at Ibrox as Gerrard and Gary McAllister prepare to get down to business in a couple of weeks.

And Rossiter is confident he can be a major player for Rangers as his former Reds mentor takes his first steps into management next term.

He said: “Yeah, definitely [I can play a big part next season]. No matter who was coming in, I’d want to be a big part of it. I want to be a Rangers player. I want to be here.

“Whoever the manager was, I was going to try and be at the top of my game and get back into the starting 11.

“I have obviously never worked with him as a manager, but as a player when I was up training with him at Melwood he was absolutely superb with me. First class.

“He is obviously a fellow Scouser and he helped me a lot. I’m sure I’ll learn just as much off him as a manager as I did when he was a player.

“To be honest, no [there isn’t an extra incentive for me]. This is Rangers Football Club and no matter what manager comes in they will bring a good pedigree. I would always try and be on top of my game.”
