Rangers summer of recruitment could see the Ibrox club continue their pursuit this week of Brighton defender Connor Goldson.
Goldson, who has also been linked with West Ham United and two Championship clubs south of the border, has seen limited game time over the last season as Brighton boss Chris Hughton opted for Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy as his preferred pairing in central defence as the south coast club maintained their status within England’s top flight.
That limited 25-year-old Goldson – valued around the £2m mark - to bit-part appearances, with only three of his eight outings coming in league duty.
New Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has targeted a minimum or two new faces for the heart of his defence.
And Gerrard’s hopes of attracting Goldson to Glasgow could be greatly assisted by the fact the player a lifelong Liverpool fan.
Rangers have already recruited from Brighton in the last week, signing on-loan Jamie Murphy on a permanent deal.
