CELTIC have been invited to open the renovated stadium of one of Belgium’s most historic clubs with Royale Union Saint Gilloise desperate to play the Hoops in July.
The Brussels club were Belgium’s most successful pre-war team, having won 11 titles, but the last of those was in 1935.
They will move back into their historic Stade Joseph Marien ground – which hosted football matches as far back as the 1920 Olympics – this summer.

Royale Union SaintGilloise chairman Jurgen Baatzsch said: “The plan is to get a prestigious European name with history to play when we reopen the stadium.”
