And Ibrox chiefs will now go back in with a third approach as they look to secure the services of the 25-year-old.

The centre-half is behind Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and new recruit Leon Balogun at the Amex Stadium.
And Rangers will now attempt to strike a deal in the coming days as Gerrard gets set to officially start as manager on Friday after he agreed a four-year deal at Ibrox.

Rangers have already completed moves for Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor - who joined from Burnley and Hull respectively - this summer.
And winger Jamie Murphy made his switch from Brighton permanent after impressing on loan during the second half of the campaign.
