PFA Scotland chief Fraser Wishart has backed Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace to bounce back from their Rangers bust-up.

Both players have been handed fines following a furious dressing-room row in the wake of April's humiliating 4-0 drubbing by Celtic at Hampden.

Skipper Wallace was fined four weeks' wages - the maximum allowed - while Miller was given a two-weeks fine.

According to reports, both players have decided to contest the punishment but all union boss Wishart would say is that the process was "on going".

However, he did hint at the strain both men have been living under since they were suspended pending an investigation into the angry exchanges at the national stadium.

Wishart said: "There is nothing I can tell you because of the legal confidentialities when any of our members are involved in something like this.

"We are representing and advising them behind the scenes and it is a difficult time for players when they have their private matters splashed across the papers and talked about on social media.

"Most of it is ill-informed and not accurate because nobody has been able to put their side of the story over yet.

"But the players are strong characters, strong lads and they will come through this in the end.

"The process is on going so, as much as I'm sure everybody would love to know the inside story, it would be wrong of me to say anything further."

Miller is due to depart Ibrox this summer following the expiry of his contract, while Wallace's future under new boss Steven Gerrard has yet to be clarified.

The Light Blues are due to report for pre-season on June 15 before flying out to Spain for a 10-day training camp on June 17.
