JASON HOLT hopes he can help Fleetwood strive for success this season after clinching a season-long loan deal.

The midfielder has been reunited with former Rangers team-mates Joey Barton and Clint Hill at Highbury.

Holt spent three seasons in Light Blue after being signed by Mark Warburton but has been allowed to leave by new boss Steven Gerrard.

And he is determined to make an impact in League One as Barton and Hill embark on their first campaign in the dugout.

Holt said: "I believe I am the kind of player who will bring a lot of energy to the team.

"I am someone who gets themselves around the park, and hopefully I can help the team as much as I can and maybe chip in with goals and assists.

"Everyone has been great. I've been in this situation before going to a new club but there are some others in the same situation, and they've just been very welcoming and it's also nice to get that first session out of the way.

"Coming down here and speaking to people at the football club just shows how ambitious they are and hopefully after a good pre-season, and a good start to the season, we can be up there.

"I'm here to help the club as much as I can and have a positive season and help push this football club forward.

"I played with manager whilst he was at Rangers and he got in touch with me.

"He has shown real desire to get me here which helps me make my mind up.

"The manager asked what my thoughts were on joining up with him and here we are today.

"I am very happy to be here and it's the first day with everyone, and it has been nice to meet all of the staff and all the boys."
