KENNY Miller admitted that he had been deeply hurt by the circumstances surrounding his departure from Rangers as he was unveiled as the new player-manager of Livingston yesterday.

But Miller, who was suspended and then fined a fortnight’s wages for his involvement in a dressing room bust-up following the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic at Hampden in April, will have no hesitation asking the Ibrox club for loan players.

The striker and his former team mate Lee Wallace, who was also suspended and fined a month’s wages, have appealed to the SPFL against the disciplinary action and are being represented by PFA Scotland.

However, the 38-year-old has stressed he will have no qualms about approaching Rangers, who he played for on three separate occasions, about players as he bids to keep promoted Livingston in the Ladbrokes Premiership next season.

“It’s an ongoing matter so I can’t really delve into what’s happening, “ he said. “But I’ll be taking it to a conclusion and it’ll come to one soon enough.

“It was disappointing. Everybody who knows me knows how I am as a person and how I’m not as well. Everybody knows what I am and what I am not. So what was done last season did hurt and left me disappointed.

“Who knows what their motives were. I don’t know what their purpose was. But for me there was just real hurt and disappointment about how my time there ended.

“I gave the club eight years’ service, I scored a lot of goals, I won a lot of leagues and cups, I had some great times and enjoyed working with some really, really good people who are still at the club.

"You are missing people you have built up relationships with over the best part of 20 years. So it was hurtful.

“But football is a funny old game, you move onwards and upwards, you move on to the next challenge. I am absolutely delighted that this one has come up and I have the opportunity now to implement all the ideas I have and things I have sat and talked about over the last four, five, six years.”

Miller had also been the under-20 towards the end of his time at Rangers and asked if he would look to take youngsters from the Ibrox club on loan, he said: “I can ask the question.

“You have to look at every possible avenue when you are looking to strengthen a team. When you are on a limited budget sometimes you will be looking for a little help from people.

“If you can give a player first team opportunities that they won’t get at another club then it is always a route that a club looks at. I will be no different. We haven’t really touched on specific targets at the moment. But that is something I will be working very hard on in the next couple of weeks. I would like to get people in as soon as possible to get them bedded in to this dressing room.”
