MORTON new boy Reghan Tumilty believes his team are good enough to aim for the promotion play-offs.

The former Ross County man scored on his debut against Partick Thistle in Tuesday's Betfred Cup defeat.

And while Ray McKinnon's men are still short of numbers, the latest signing has a good feeling about the upcoming league campaign.

Right-back Tumilty said: "If we play like we did in the second-half against Thistle when we bossed the game, let's be honest, we can easily push for a top four finish.

"But we need to play like that from the start of games.

"The manager is a really nice guy. I played against his Dundee United team when I was at Ross County - we won 6-2 - and to be at a club where you are wanted is a nice feeling.

"It's not that I wasn't wanted at County, but I will play games here."

Tumilty, 21, wasn't signed for his scoring talent, but there was nothing wrong with the way he found the bottom corner from outside the box.

He said: "I only signed on Tuesday morning so it was a hectic day.

"I was in at Hamilton for a few weeks, they wanted to keep me there on trial, but that didn't appeal to me much.

"Morton had a friendly against Queen's Park last Tuesday, I played in that and then trained for a few days which I really enjoyed.

"It was good to get a game and get a goal...a big swinger with the left foot.

"We weren't bad in the first-half, but they scored an unbelievable goal if we're being honest, and we did react well and came back fighting after their second."
