Spectators enjoyed a narrow escape on day two of the Open Championship as an errant shot from Tiger Woods had them ducking for cover.
Woods pushed his drive on the par-four second hole at Carnoustie right of the fairway, the 14-time major winner’s ball coming to rest on a steep bank.
That left the 42-year-old with an awkward stance and seemingly no option but to pitch back on to the fairway, but he tried an ambitious second shot which flew fast and low towards the gallery before thankfully veering left.
Woods went on to bogey the hole and also dropped a shot on the next before bouncing back with birdies on the fourth and fifth.
