RYAN KENT reckons Rangers boss Steven Gerrard can help bring out the best in him once again after he completed a season-long loan move from Liverpool.

The winger has become the tenth signing of the summer for Gerrard and follows the Anfield legend in making the switch to Glasgow.

Kent could make his debut in the Europa League clash with NK Osijek on Thursday and can’t wait to get down to business in Light Blue.

He said: “I think when the opportunity came around to join a club of this magnitude, it was a bit of a no-brainer. They have got a person in charge now in Steven Gerrard who has played at the highest level and achieved many great things.

“To learn from him is great, and I already know some of the players here. To have Michael Beale here too, he got the best out of me in under-23s football at Liverpool.

“So I think it is a really exciting move for me, and I am looking forward to the opportunity.

“I would say I am an exciting player, and I never hold back. I don’t fear getting on the ball, even if I’ve lost the ball. I am hopefully going to bring a lot of excitement to the fans here at Rangers.

“Everybody knows what a massive club they are with a massive fan-base. I have already watched a bit of them this season in the pre-season games and the Europa League qualifiers.

“I think the turnout of fans for the game against Bury speaks for itself. I am really looking forward to getting started, and especially to making my debut at Ibrox.”

Kent has had loan spells with Coventry, Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City in recent years as he has gained vital first team experience away from Anfield.

He will spend the coming months working under the guidance of Reds legend Gerrard as he looks to help the Gers to domestic success this term.

And the 21-year-old reckons he has a point to prove in the Premiership after a frustrating end to last season.

Kent told RangersTV: “I spoke in-depth with him [Gerrard] about the opportunities I will get up here, how he can benefit me and how I can benefit the club.

“I had to take a lot of time speaking with my family and my representatives to make this decision as last season was quite a disappointing year.

“This move had to be the perfect one, and when Rangers came around, I think it is.

“I would say every loan move I have had has benefited me in some sort of way, whether it has been a disappointing year in terms of how much game-time I have had, or a positive experience – wither way, I have taken positives away from every loan spell I have had.

“Last season was a disappointing year. I made my debut against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena [for Freiburg] and was involved in a promotion chase with Bristol City, so I did take a lot away from last season.

“I am hoping to build on that this year. Playing in front of 50,000 every week, you have got to turn out and perform. Playing on such a big stage, I don’t see how that can’t benefit you for the future.

“On a personal level, I would like to get a lot of game time this year. I think I have to prove a lot of people wrong from last season, and it is a chance to add numbers to my game – so to get a lot of assists and goals. I want to get back to enjoying my football again.”
