RANGERS, as a club, are there to win things. It is as simple as that.

Throughout their whole history, they have been about winning leagues and winning cups and Steven Gerrard knows that as well as anyone.

Over the next couple of seasons, they have to be challenging for, and winning, the Premiership and they need to be lifting silverware at Hampden.

Steven could take the team to two cup finals and finish second in the league and it would be seen as a bad season for Rangers because they hadn’t won anything.

That is the expectation from the supporters and they will hope this year is their year when it comes to getting some silverware back to Ibrox.

That may well happen in the coming months and that is something that the fans need to see. They are dreaming about the day the captain lifts a trophy again.

So the Betfred Cup tie with Kilmarnock is really important for Rangers and it is a game that Steven will be determined to win on the back of the great result in Maribor in midweek.

That is ten games undefeated now under Steven and they have yet to be behind once. When you consider last season, that is an incredible turnaround.

Rangers want to go out there and win every week and hopefully that will lead to a trophy this season because the fans deserve a bit of success once again.

Second is nowhere in Glasgow and Rangers have been second best for some time now unfortunately. That has to change.

It would be great to see Steven’s side lift some silverware this season but the manager and the players won’t be thinking about that right now.

All they can focus on is what will be a really tricky game at Rugby Park tomorrow and ensuring they follow up the performance in Maribor with another one against Killie.
