TOM Rogic is out of Celtic's Champions League opener in Sarajevo.

The Australian is still struggling with the ankle injury he picked up in the Scottish Cup final, and is continuing his rehab in Glasgow.

His Celtic teammates rounded off the Austrian leg of their pre-season tour with a 2-1 friendly win over Wiener-Sport Club in Vienna last night, but Rogic will not be joining them as their Champions League preparation ramps up in Switzerland.

Kieran Tierney has also now returned to Scotland.

"Tom is not here," said Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

"He picked up an ankle injury in the cup final and we knew he would be three to four weeks anyway.

"He could do all his rehab work at home. "Kieran has gone back home too to finish off his rehab.

"We are hoping that by the time we get back Tom will be back on the training ground.

"He still had issues with his knee towards the end of last season’s and to be fair to the kid he probably needed a rest.

"He has been playing World Cups and Asian Cups, maybe not 100 per cent. We will get him back up to speed as we go along and that will do him the world of good."

Lennon was delighted with the performance of Vakoun Issouf Bayo last night, the striker scoring the late winner after Leigh Griffiths had pulled the visitors level in the second half.

"I’m really pleased with him and would have been even if he hadn;t scored," he said.

"It might do his confidence the world of good, it might not, but he has had a good week.

"He is a nice addition to the squad and gives us something a bit different.

"I thought technically and his play in general, he was very good.

"We could have won the game seven or eight so I was delighted with the way the game went.

"We missed some good chances but I was pleased with the tempo and the quality of our play."

Lennon has also been heartened by the two new arrivals at the club, as Celtic's summer transfer business finally clicked into gear with the signings of Luca Connell and Christopher Jullien.

"It’s coming together slowly but surely but we knew that anyway," he said.

"It takes a bit of time. Luca is a young player and we like the talent. He will be a welcome addition to the squad - he is bubbly and a good footballer.

"He did some good things in a short space of time at Bolton.

"Obviously there was an opportunity there to take him and I think the club acted in really good faith with Bolton.

"We will see how it goes. We couldn’t ignore his talent and he one we want to develop. He may dip in and out or he may come and hit the ground running, we will need to wait and see.

"He is a central midfielder with a good range of passing. He is well balanced, has good vision and at 18 we think he has a good chance to make a name for himself.

"He came to my attention a few months ago so we have been working away in the background.

"Obviously he was away with the Irish squad. And we got feedback from there which was all positive."

While Connell may be one for the future, Jullien is very much arriving to make an immediate impact on the team.

"Jullien has been our No.1 target for quiet a while so it’s really good to get that deal established," said Lennon.

"I think he is pleased about it too. The good thing with Jullien is that his wife is British and that will be a big help in terms of him settling quickly.

"We spent £9 million on Odsonne (Edouard) last year so it's just the way the market has gone. Even in the four years since I have been away.

"You see some players going between Premier League and Championship clubs for double or treble that.

"He is certainly not a project. He is hopefully going to come in and hit the ground running.

"He might need a bit of work to start with and we’ll need to integrate him with the squad but he is coming in to play."

While Lennon is hoping to add another few new faces soon, there have been no other recent developments about players coming in or going out of the club.

"It’s been nice and calm," Lennon added. "I know there will be another round of speculation but I am on the phone to Peter all the time - I speak to him more than my missus at the minute!"
