ROMANIAN side CFR Cluj have warned Celtic they are up for a Champions League fight.

Dan Petrescu’s side survived a late onslaught in Israel against Maccabi Tel Aviv to draw 2-2 and go through to face the Hoops with a 3-2 aggregate win.

Now Cluj sporting director Bogdan Mara has backed his team to stun the Scots and realise Petrescu’s dream of bringing group stage football back to Romania.

Mara said: “We know what Celtic are all about, especially on their own ground, but we will fight.

“Celtic is an historic team, a big name, these are two games that won't be easy at all.

“But let's embrace them. We hope to qualify again.”

Cluj players celebrated the result in Israel by dancing on tables and singing wildly in the dressing room as if they had won the tournament.

Now Petrescu wants their feet back on the ground for the challenge of Neil Lennon’s side.

The former Chelsea man said: “We want to go even further, even to the Champions League groups.

“I think it's possible. We have come through tough qualifiers against Astana and Maccabi.

“We don't have a young team, and this was seen in the second half against Maccabi. The players of Maccabi had more freshness, but we knew how to earn the result ”
