CLUJ goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis believes that Celtic underestimated the Romanians in the last meeting between the sides, and says his team are ready to shock Celtic Park again this evening.

Cluj ran out 4-3 winners to knock Celtic out of Champions League qualification in August, and a surprise 2-1 win over Italian giants Lazio in their opening Europa League group game has strengthened their belief they can repeat the heroics of their last visit to Glasgow when they take to the Celtic Park pitch again this evening.

“Maybe Celtic underestimated us a little bit,” Arlauskis said. “We hope they do it again.

“It’s not easy to play in this wonderful stadium but we will be confident after the last time.

“It was a crazy game against Celtic the last time with a happy ending for us. It was a big pressure match for us because we wanted to qualify for the Champions League.

“Now we can enjoy the game a bit more because the pressure is not so much. But the target is to win - just like last time.”

Meanwhile, Neil Lennon believes that Scottish football is judged too harshly on the back of European defeats, with Tottenham Hotspur’s thumping loss to Bayern Munich proving that anyone can be on the receiving end when coming up against top-class teams.

“When you are coming up against that type of quality and they get their dander up, sometimes it can deflate you mentally as seems to have happened to Spurs,” Lennon said. “They were also punished by ruthless finishing. The quality of finishing was top class.

“It just shows you that it can happen to the best of teams.

“It’s more from England and they look down on the Scottish game. But we have produced and are producing good teams and good individuals who have gone on to do great things in the Premier League.

“You don’t take a view from England as they don’t see the game week-in, week-out, but sometimes people up here jump on the bandwagon and really sort of let themselves down.”
