Rangers have named Todd Cantwell on a shortlist of potential transfer targets, according to a report.

It's been said that the Norwich City attacker is very much on the radar of Michael Beale.

The Scottish Sun claim that the Ibrox club are exploring the possibility of making a move for the former England U21 international.

Their report states that a move could either be made this month, or to try and tie him down on a pre-contract now for the summer, when his deal at Carrow Road expires in June.

Cantwell, once thought of as one of England's top emerging talents, has become a fringe player with the Canaries.

He's featured in 19 of their 28 games so far this season, however, recently most of those have been off the bench for late cameo appearances.

In last week's home defeat to Watford Cantwell was an unused substitute.

Norwich take on Blackburn in the FA Cup today. It's unclear whether new manager David Wagner will involved the 24-year-old.

With the player's career ar a crossroads, a move to Ibrox could prove tempting should Beale and Rangers look tp up the ante in the market this January.

Touching upon potential new recruits ahead of today's game against Dundee United, Beale said: "The two or three players that I’ve spoken to are very keen to come – and sooner rather than later.

"Same on our side. But I’ve got to make sure they’re the right ones. I’m a little bit fussy.

"It’s alright doing something over Zoom but I want to sit in front of a player and look in his eyes.

"I want to meet a player and tell them exactly what I want and the role we want them to play.

“Any players recruited are here to do a specific job for our squad.”
