Rangers are face competition for the signing of Todd Cantwell from Norwich.

This morning, it's been said that the Canaries have rejected a bid for the 24-year-old.

Sky Sports report that an unnamed Championship rival have been turned down in their official approach for the midfielder.

He's out of contract at Carrow Road in the summer.

Since the weekend, it's been strongly speculated that Michael Beale is keen to convince Cantwell to join Rangers whether it be this month or at the end of his contract.

It appears the Ibrox club will have to fend off competition if they want to land the ex-England U21 star, though.

Sky claim the offer on the table for Norwich was not big enough to tempt them into a sale.

Cantwell has played 18 times so far this season, with the majority of those coming off the bench in recent times.

He was left out of new manager David Wagner's first squad for their FA Cup loss to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.

On his decision, the new boss said: He said: "Todd didn't make it (the squad) today."

Directly addressing Cantwell and Everton star Tom Davies - who has also been linked with a move to Ibrox - Beale responded: "No names, but I think they are both good players.

"Todd was an excellent player when he was young and playing against my Liverpool Under-23s. I thought he would go on and have a fantastic career. He had that at the start and he is maybe just looking for a move to re-ignite it, but I think he is a fantastic player at a good age.

"And Tom Davies, he used to kick my Liverpool Under-23s team all around the place. There's a bit of John Lundstram about him. I'm not confirming anything with those two. But there's a lot of players we are speaking to at the moment."
