Rangers star Nicola Docherty has told social media windbag Joey Barton to 'change the channel' after his latest blast at women's football centred on Partick Thistle's 17-year-old keeper Ava Easdon.

The youngster was in nets for Thistle's 4-1 defeat to Rangers in the Sky Sports Final and outspoken ex-pro Barton wasn't impressed with her attempt to stop the match's first goal.

Barton wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "I mean let’s just talk about the goalie! How is this nonsense on the box?"

Rangers captain Nicola Docherty came out in defence of the youngster, suggesting that if Barton doesn't enjoy the women's game he should simply watch something else.

She wrote: "Couldn’t help but notice the tweets from an older man regarding this great young goalkeeper who is inspiring the next generation.

"Keep doing what you are doing! If women’s football isn’t for you change the channel, it isn’t hard."
