Kris Boyd is relishing not being the only Rangers fan when Philippe Clement’s men visit Celtic next season.

The former Gers striker turned pundit has cut a lonely figure when covering Rangers trips to Celtic Park in recent seasons after visiting allocations were slashed and then since abolished leaving thousands locked out of the Old Firm experience.

SPFL chiefs have been trying to find solutions and are set to allow both teams to have five per cent of the opposition’s capacity from the 2024/25 season.

That means next weekend’s derby clash at Ibrox and the post-split fixture between the side’s next month will be the last with zero away supporters. Something that Boyd is delighted to be seeing the back of.

"I'm just glad I won't be the only Rangers fan going to the games now," laughed the ex-Light Blues talisman while on Sky Sports duties.

"Sometimes our football gets criticised but the one thing you can't criticise is the Old Firm spectacle as such. I mean it's renewed world wide.

"So, I think to have at least some fans back in will play a big part in trying to get it back to what it was.

"I think it will be vert difficult to try and get it back to the five, six, seven, eight thousand that used to be there but as Michael (Beale) says, it's a start.

"But hopefully we can get that one day because everybody you speak about, the fans make games of football and they definitely make that one, that's for sure."
