Ricky Burns' manager today demanded an Englishman be booted off the three-man judging panel for Saturday's world title fight defence against Nicky Cook.

Alex Morrison has accused Terry O'Connor of bias against his fighters in past bouts.

The Glasgow fight godfather lambasted O'Connnor's scoring when Greenock's John Simpson lost his British featherweight title on points to Commonwealth champion Steven Smith on Merseyside three months ago.

One judge rated the bout a draw and another gave it to Smith by a single round. But O'Connor incensed Morrison by awarding six rounds to the Scouser.

Morrison said: "I can't believe he has been selected for this contest after what has happened in the past. Simpson's fight with Smith was close, but to give it to Smith by six rounds was embarrassing. These decisions go as far back as 1999."

Meanwhile, WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan believes he can learn a lot from David Haye's recent defeat to Vladimir Klitschko and has set his sights on putting pride back into British boxing.

The 24-year-old will defend his WBA crown in Las Vegas next week, where he will face five-time world champion and current IBF belt holder Zab Judah.

He said: "I can get involved a little bit more than David by not showing any respect for my opponent.

"I am there to take his title away and to beat him."
