SCOTTISH Ex-Boxers' Association chief Hugh Dickson today spoke of his pride at the organisation's recognition of some of the Scottish fight game's greatest names.
Scots boxing legends Walter McGowan (former WBC flyweight cham-pion), John "Cowboy" McCormack (ex-British and European middleweight king), Derry Traynor (former British featherweight title challenger and British Boxing Board of Control official) and Norrie Sweeney (trainer and promoter), were all presented with the Benny Lynch Certificate of Merit for their services to Scottish pugilism by St Andrew's club supremo Tommy Gilmour.
Dickson said: "We are delighted to recognise these four great figures of Scottish boxing by presenting them with the Benny Lynch Certificate of Merit. It is important that their legacy be recognised."
St Andrew's Club supremo Tommy Gilmour said: "It was almost like being a kid again to meet these greats whom I grew up idolising. I cannot think of four more fitting recipients of the Ex- Boxers' awards."
