Morton gaffer James Grady today slammed his side’s 2-1 defeat by Dunfermline at Cappielow as “completely unacceptable”.

A 55th minute Ryan McGuffie goal had given the Greenock side hope of extending their unbeaten run to three games.

But late strikes by Andy Kirk and Gary Mason handed the Fifers all three points.

Grady raged: “The performance was completely unacceptable from start to finish.

“Both myself and Allan McManus believe that we get these false dawns when the players start believing they are better than they are and then they come down with a bump.

“We just did not work hard enough. The players were given plaudits for the previous three games and I asked them to do the same things and they never did any of them. The galling part for me is that I thought we were bullied.”

Meanwhile, in Division Two, Dumbarton’s hopes of making the promotion play-offs were dealt a blow when they crashed 3-1 at Arbroath to trail fourth-placed Brechin by six points.

Sons gaffer Jim Chapman said: “We got the opening goal, controlled the game and played some fantastic football, but have left empty- handed and that is hard to take.

“The reason for that was our second-half performance was nowhere near good enough.”
