FIGHT chiefs will decide the ring future of former world champion Scott Harrison next month.

The ex-WBO featherweight title holder was refused clearance to fight by the British Boxing Board of Control when they met recently to consider a plea to remove his licence's suspension.

He had been poised to return to action at Paisley's Lagoon Centre on December 12.

But Iain Wilson and Colin Bellshaw, of Saltire Promotions, were forced to abandon plans to stage a bill featuring the 37- year-old fighter.

The BBBC won't lift the ban until after a court decides whether to extradite Harrison to Spain to serve a four-year jail term imposed after he was found guilty of assault.

But Bellshaw insists the door is still open for Harrison to make a sensational comeback nine years after the last of his 11 world title bouts.

He said: "Scott's appeal against extradition will be heard on December 4.

"The board has decided to wait until the outcome is known but they've not shut the door on Scott.

"Subject to the verdict, we are optimistic he will be cleared to fight sometime in February.

"All being well, we have pencilled in two possible dates for his comeback."

Harrison's most recent bout was in April 2013 against Englishman Liam Walsh at Wembley Arena for the European lightweight title. It ended in a points defeat.
