RICKY BURNS has landed a dream unification fight with IBF champion Miguel Vazquez.
Burns will put his WBO lightweight title on the line against the 26-year-old Mexican, whose IBF belt will also be up for grabs, in London, probably at the Wembley Arena, on March 16.
Burns manager Alex Morrison confirmed: "Ricky has landed the dream unification fight he has always craved and it is a fitting reward for the dignified way he handled himself after his last proposed defence was called off back on December 15.
"This is a chance for Ricky to ele-vate himself into the company of the likes of Jim Watt and Ken Buchanan.
"Vazquez is obviously a great champion and has not been beaten in five years and never been stopped but Ricky has always shown that the better the opposition the better he fights. I am confident he will rise to the challenge to unify the two belts.
"Without doubt this is the biggest fight featuring a Scot since Jim Watt faced Alexis Arguello back in 1981 at Wembley."
ice hockey: Braehead Clan slipped to their tenth defeat in 12 league games last night when they were cut down 7-2 at Sheffield Steelers.
