The WBO lightweight champion came from Coatbridge's famous Barn Boxing Gym, and the early tutelage of famed Lanarkshire fight coach Rab Bannan.

Now Morrison reckons there are more Lanarkshire fight gems waiting to be mined.

He said: "We have five fights on tonight's card and it is all about trying to find the next Ricky Burns.

"Lanarkshire has always been a hot-bed of boxing talent and this is about giving some of the local boys a platform.

"We have a home-town debut with Scott Allan and the unbeaten Willie Jamieson as well.

"I am delighted that Eddie Hearn is sponsoring the show and looking forward to an exciting night."

A few tickets priced £35 are still available on the door tonight.
