WILLIE LIMOND has backed Carl Froch to prove age is just a number when he faces George Groves in their re-match for the Cobra's WBA and IBF world super-middleweight titles at Wembley tonight.

The highly-anticipated scrap comes after Groves was controversially stopped by Froch in the ninth round of their first clash last November.

But now Limond, who at 35 is a year younger than Froch, reckons there is no cause for age concern for the double world champion and is backing him to render Groves' mind games obsolete.

Limond said: "I think Froch will win by a stoppage. Groves has been doing his best to get under Carl's skin to the extent that he even pulled a Rubik's Cube out at one of their conferences and started clicking it together.

"But Carl has handled that a lot better this time around. I also think, from watching the build-up, that Carl has been a lot more composed this time around.

"He knows what Groves is up to and he has managed to sting back with a few lines."

In the first fight Groves dominated the opening six rounds, hurting Froch repeatedly and decking the champion heavily in the opening session.

Many pundits have suggested that was proof the Cobra is on the slide.but Limond disagrees.

The Commonwealth light-welterweight champion said: "When you hit your mid-thirties you do worry there will come that one fight that sends you over the hill.

"But Froch will never have worked so hard as he has done for the re-match. He knows that he not only has the power to hurt Groves but to stop him.

"That will give him a lot of confidence when he starts his ring walk."
