SCOTT AARSSEN says unfinished business and his desire to win MULTIPLE trophies was the reason for returning to Braehead Clan.

The Canadian has put pen-to-paper on a deal to bring him back to Scotland for a fourth campaign in purple as he looks to settle old scores.

During his time in Glasgow the 28-year-old has helped Clan clinch the Gardiner Conference title twice, make it to the play-off finals weekend, play in Europe and finish second in the EIHL.

However, a league-winner’s medal has so far proved elusive for the defenceman but he told SportTimes adding that to his collection, among others, was one of the main reasons for his returning to Ryan Finnerty’s group.

He said: “Having Finner and some core players already returning, were huge factors for me.

“Finner always assembles a great team and treats us professionally, with winning a championship being the number one goal.

“Like every year, we are aiming for not only one, but multiple trophies next season. After coming close the last two seasons, I think we can all agree that there is some unfinished business.

“It's time to bring a championship season to Braehead.

“My family and I are extremely happy to be returning to Braehead for another season.

“This will be my fourth season in Braehead, so there are obviously a lot of factors which keep me coming back. The fans are second to none, the organization is first class, and the city is awesome.”

Head Coach Finnerty was just as delighted as Aarssen to see the man from London, Ontario return as he was, and said: “Scott’s been a leader since the day he walked into the dressing room,” “He’s been a constant professional for me and a great guy to coach.

“He’s done everything and more of what we’ve asked of him and it was a no brainer for me to get him back for next season. The day he tells me he’s done or moving on will be a tough one.

“I have a lot of respect for Scott and he seems to like playing for me as well as for Braehead and we’re happy to get the deal done.

“We had one of the better defensive records in the league because of that and our goalies. Scotty was a big part of that and getting him back was key.

“Once we got talking to him, the deal didn’t take long and I’m delighted to have him back for another campaign.”
