Braehead Clan new recruit Jay Rosehill has admitted the chance to play a different role was a big draw for him coming to Scotland

The 31-year-old is best known for his physical style of play, earning a fierce repuation as an enforcer in the National Hockey League. However, he is keen to showcase his other talents as he gets ready to try life in the Elite League.

And the former Philadelphia Flyer is excited to get the chance to play a more technical job to what he’s been used to in the past when Clan take to the ice later this month.

“I’ve played physically for a few years now and while that’s a style I like to play, I want to show off the other aspects of my game,” the former NHL star said.

“I can skate pretty well and make some plays. It feels like a nice mix where the physical side of it will be involved, but I’ll enjoy playing a little too.

“I’m looking forward to adapting my game to fit both sides of my games.

“The coach telling me I’ll play some big minutes and I feel like the game has changed so much in North America that some people can’t see past that and I’m always playing the same role.

“As I’m getting older, the league’s getting younger and there’s nothing there for me to do any more. It’s exciting for me to play some minutes, play in the top lines and contribute overall.”

There is just over two weeks to go before Braehead are back in action as preparations for their latest title tilt get stepped up.
