JAY ROSEHILL is ready to show Zack Fitzgerald who the Braehead Clan boss is if the two clash on Clyde side tonight.

Fitzgerald was once the ferocious warrior adored by the Purple Army with his no-nonsense style. Now, it is former NHL enforcer Rosehill that takes up that responsibility.

It was back in the Canadian’s Toronto Marlies days that the pair first dropped the gloves, a memory that has stuck in Rosehill’s memory.

They may have not had a chance to re-establish that rivalry when they met in Sheffield last Saturday but, with the Steelers coming to Glasgow tonight, Rosehill is ready to step up if required and put it all on the line.

“He wasn’t making too much noise on the physical side and I was moving the puck,” he said. “But I know what kind of player he is. I ran into him in North America and he plays hard, but so do I.

“He’s not a guy I’m particularly thinking about. I know who he is and what he does but we’ll be playing everyone hard.

“I fought him around six or seven years ago when I was in Toronto. He’s a tough character and they know him around this town very well.

“I’m trying to remember who came out on top. It was a pretty good fight. Our jerseys ripped and then we had to square off again before the linesman jumped in.

“I don’t plan things ahead of time but as I’ve proven in my career if that stuff needs to be done I’m always there. It’s not an issue.”

Ahead of tonight’s game, Braehead have announced the signing of Canadian forward Mike Hammond, who will stay with the club for the remainder of the season.

“Since we moved Jay Rosehill into the defensive lines, we had a hole to fill in our offensive line-up and we’ve been looking for the right guy,” said head coach Ryan Finnerty of the 26-year-old.

“Mike has one year as a pro under his belt and we wanted someone with youth and energy. While he doesn’t have a ton of experience, he can play in either wing and is highly skilled.”
