CANADIAN rockers Monster Truck were part of the Clan on Monday as they took to the ice at Braehead.

The four-piece were in town ahead of their show at night supporting Nickelback at the SSE Hydro but took some time out to see the sights around Glasgow.

On their travels, band members Jon Harvey, Jeremy Widerman, Brandon Bliss and Steve Kiely were personally invited to an exclusive training session with ice hockey outfit the Braehead Clan at their home by the Clyde.

Dressed in personalised Clan jerseys, the quartet joined some of head coach Ryan Finnerty’s star men on the ice including former NHL enforcer Jay Rosehill and Scot Bari McKenzie as they performed skating and shooting drills at the Braehead Arena just hours before taking to the stage.

It was a special moment for the band from Hamilton, Ontario given their special affinity with ice hockey. Their song Seven Seas Blues was used in EA Sports’ game NHL 13, while their track Righteous Smoke features in the latest edition of the title.

A Clan spokesman said: “It was great to have the guys in for a special skating session. We hope to see them back soon.”
