BRAEHEAD CLAN are going out to lure Matt Beca and Scott Pitt out of the reach of Ryan Finnerty and back to Glasgow.

The duo are on the list of recruits Clan chiefs are hoping will return to Scotland following the last campaign.

Twenty nine-year-old Pitt has enjoyed three fruitful spells in purple since joining from Eispiraten Crimmitschau in 2014, with the former AHL man hitting over 80 goals for the Elite League club.

For right wing Beca, a poor maiden season at Braehead was not a reflection on the Canadian who was one of Finnerty's top perfromers last term.

It's understood the former Clan head coach, who is now in charge at Manchester Storm, is keen to take his two former stars down to Altrincham ahead of the new campaign. There is also interest coming from clubs in Austria and Slovakia

But SportTimes has learned Braehead have been in dialogue with the pair over a potential return to Scotland for life under new gaffer John Tripp with the man himself speaking to the two Clansmen.

Despite both wishing to explore other options in Asia and Europe, hopes are still high that if they are to remain in the UK for another year, Clydeside will be their destination.

Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers said: “Both Matt & Scott were fantastic for us last season and they are certainly two players both John and myself would like back.

“Understandably after the season they both had they wanted to explore their options in Asia and Europe, that’s part of the sport and something we have to accept.

“We’d like them both back, feel that they can be an integral part of the club we’re trying to build here, so it’s really about seeing how things pan out.”

“We decided that we would only like 2 or 3 of last season’s imports back, it would be nice to retain some continuity but at the same time if that doesn’t work out we’ll have an exciting new team on the ice come August."
