BRAEHEAD Clan have announced a summer series of fixtures in Glasgow to kick off the 2018/19 campaign in August.

The Elite League side, under the guidance of new head coach Pete Russell, will take on four teams from overseas over consecutive weekends at the Braehead Arena.

German DEL outfit Fischtown Pinguins will be the first visitors on Saturday 18 August before the Clan face DEL2 side Dresden Eislowen a day later.

The following weekend, Russell will lead his side out against French Ligue Magnus side Lyon Lions on Saturday 25 August before the series concludes with the visit of seven-time Norwegian champions Stavanger Oilers 24 hours later.

Clan Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers said: “We are delighted we have been able to entice four quality teams to Glasgow for our 2018/19 pre-season schedule.

"After the success of Frankfurt’s visit last year, we wanted to provide the loyal Purple Army with an exciting and diverse start to the new season.

“I would like to thank Alfred Prey (Fischtown), Volker Schnabel (Dresden), Sebastien Berthet (Lyon) and Pal Haukali Higson (Stavanger) for working with us to make these games a possibility.

"We’re looking forward to welcoming all the teams, their management, staff, players, sponsors and most importantly fans to Glasgow.”

The Purple Army's 2017/18 campaign ended in disappointment last month when they missed out on a play-off place by finishing ninth in the standings.
