Celtic ended Glasgow City’s 34-match unbeaten run with a 2-1 win after extra time in the quarter-final of the SWFL Premier League Cup.

City opened the scoring in 20 minutes when striker Lisa Evans converted a corner at the near post.

With eight minutes remaining, however, City were punished for not killing off the game, a mistake by full-back Emma Fernon allowing Jo Love through on goal, and the Scotland inter-national made no mistake.

Extra time followed and, with City piling on the pressure with numerous corners and free-kicks, Celtic broke up the park and striker Suzanne Grant hit a 20-yard volley into the roof of the net.

The holders continued to pile on the pressure, but some excellent defending and vital saves from Gemma Faye gave the Hoops victory.

Celtic will meet Aberdeen in the semi-final on April 21, with Spartans facing Inverness.
