CELTIC are on the verge of signing goalkeeper Logan Bailly from Belgian Pro League side Oud-Heverlee Leuven for a six-figure fee.

His club’s website claims a deal has been agreed with the Scottish champions for the 29-year-old who has also had spells at Borussia Munchengladbach and Genk.

Bailly would become Celtic’s third signing of the summer after Dedryck Boyata and Saidy Janko.

Ronny Deila has been looking to add to his goalkeeping department following the departure of Lukasz Zaluska.

But he would be a back-up keeper to Craig Gordon, who is Deila’s confirmed No.1.

Deila confirmed following his side’s 5-3 friendly defeat by Dukla Prague on Saturday that he was looking for a third goalkeeper ahead of the Champions League qualifiers. Leo Fasan played the second half after replacing Gordon but was uncomfortable with his kicking throughout.

Bailly made his senior debut with Racing Genk in 2002 before moving to Munchengladbach in 2009.

He moved on to Leuven in 2012 and helped the club gain promotion to the Belgian top flight last season.

Oud-Heverlee Leuven, who play in the second tier of Belgian football, broke the news last night when they claimed the transfer had been agreed “in principle” and sources in Belgian claimed the player will be in Glasgow over the next couple of days.

Bailly will not be a name many Celtic fans know, however he has a decent pedigree, even if his career has stalled in recent years.

He was first-choice keeper for Genk a few seasons back when they finished second in their domestic top league, and he played almost 70 games at Munchengladbach.

He has eight caps for the Belgian national team.
