CRAIG GORDON has warned of the need for complete concentration on Wednesday night as Celtic attempt to plot their way into a Uefa Champions League play-off spot.

The Hoops face Qarabag in the first leg of their third-round qualifier and, given the debilitating journey into energy-sapping 30 degree heat for the return leg on Wednesday week, Celtic need to establish a solid advantage.

While Celtic have looked a threat going forward in their pre-season campaign – they also put six past Stjarnan in the previous round over two legs – there is still a little cause for concern at the back.

And keeper Gordon believes that the Hoops need to put up a wall on Wednesday night to prevent Qarabag grabbing what could be a crucial away goal.

“It is a very difficult tie for us,” Gordon told Celtic TV. “We have watched a few things on video and we know what we are up against. It will be a really tough night and there are times when we will need to defend well because they are a good side and they will create chances.

“We are right up for it and we want to try and win at home.”

Meanwhile, Gordon also applauded the performance of Celtic development goalkeeper Leo Fasan who played the second half against Rennes.

“I am really pleased for Leo, especially coming and playing here at Celtic Park for the first time,” said the Scotland internationalist.

“He got a little taste of it against Dukla Prague at St Mirren and things didn’t go particularly well for him that day, so it was pleasing to see him come back and put in a performance that everybody at the club knows he is capable of.

"That is the level he performs at day in, day out at training, but it is just good for the fans and everyone else to see that and know they have a really good goalkeeper coming through.”
