CELTIC defender Mikael Lustig has urged Celtic to take out their weekend frustration at drawing against Hearts on Fenerbahce.

The Parkhead side host the Turks at 8.05pm on Thursday night and Lustig is optimistic that Celtic can continue where they left off in the Europa League in Amsterdam.

“It’s going to be difficult but while we are a bit sad at drawing with Hearts we need to lift ourselves,” he said.

“In Europe we won’t get as many chances as we did against Hearts. When chances come our way we need to score as we did against Ajax.

“In Europe when we get opportunities we need to make sure they count.

“It’s especially exciting for the fans. They see the big names from Fenerbahce and they prefer that.

“We could have drawn someone like Krasnador from Russia – a team that doesn’t have the big names but are still a good side.

“Hopefully we can get the European atmosphere that makes Celtic park special and we can then respond.

“It’s a really big game and we need to stay focused and go through the group. We want to be in Europe as long as possible.

“When it’s a big team with big names in it then it makes it a little bit more special.”

And Lustig has also welcomed the imminent arrival of striker Carlton Cole whom the club expect to sign this week.

“I think he has not played for a little while, but you can still see he’s a good player,” said the Swedish internationalist.

“He’s experienced and he looks very good in the box.

“He’s done really well down south and he brings us something that we don’t have right now.

“He’s different to what we have. He’s a box player and is maybe stronger in the air.

“You always want new players to make the squad better.

“If we do sign Carlton Cole then it’s not going to make us worse – we will be better.”
