KRIS COMMONS felt that a draw was “probably fair” after Celtic blew a 2-0 goal to only draw 2-2 at home with Fenerbahce in the second Europa League group game. Goals from Leigh Griffiths and then Commons had Ronny Deila’s side in a strong position but a double from Fernandao, one either side of the half-time break, was enough to earn the Turks a battling point. Commons, ultimately, had no complaints.
He said: “I think the scoreline was probably a true reflection of the game. Either side of half-time was pivotal for us. It would have been nice to have come in at half-time 2-0 up but in the grand scheme of things a draw was probably fair.
“We started well. We got off to a good tempo, built up a head of steam and then the crowd played a big part. But the turning points in the game were conceding really late in the first half and then really early in the second. If we can sharpen up those things I think we’ll do well in this competition.”
