Celtic skipper Scott Brown reckons Jozo Simunovic can be Celtic’s defensive rock as the Hoops try to shut out Ajax in Thursday’s must-win Europa League clash.
Simunovic’s Celtic career has been hampered by injury since he made a £4.5 million switch to Glasgow from Dinamo Zagreb in September.
But the 21-year-old Croat has injected a sense of assurance into a shaky Celtic rearguard and Brown insists he can be the sturdy foundation upon which Ronny Deila’s team can build a winning performance.
Brown said: “It was a big miss for us when he was out through injury. He’s a leader at the back and having one of them really helps.
“He’s looking good, he’s looking sharp, he’s aggressive in the air and good on the ball so he definitely has good qualities. Hopefully, he’ll help us through to the next round.
“The big man has been brand new. Everyone has done their bit to make him feel welcome and he enjoys being at the club. He just wants to get a number of games under his belt now."
