TOM ROGIC has insisted the Celtic players believe in Ronny Deila and that they can keep their European dream alive by beating Ajax.

The Australian is set for a key role on Thursday night against the Dutch outfit and despite his side’s less than impressive form in Europe, was adamant that the Scottish champions will triumph, which would mean a win against Fenerbahce would take them into the knock-out stages.

A win for Ajax would heap huge pressure on Deila, however, Rogic claimed that the squad were right behind the Norwegian and that they were capable of winning this match for their manager, despite Nir Bitton and Stefan Johansen’s suspension, plus injury doubts over Scott Brown and Kris Commons.

Asked about the pressure on Deila, Rogic said: “I don't think we've thought about that. As a squad we're very united, we're all together and work closely with the manager and coaching staff.

"We're completely behind him.

"Obviously Ajax are a good side. I thought we played well against them in Amsterdam and were in a situation in the match where we could have gone on and won it. It just wasn't to be that night.

"But I think that if we can perform to the levels we're capable of then we can certainly get the result we need. We’re missing a couple of big players but whoever plays on Thursday will be ready. We have a good squad.

“It’s a massive game and we know what’s at stake. We still have a chance to go through and it’s just a case of going out there and performing.

"I don’t think too many people would have predicted how this group would have panned out. But we can’t look back – we have to just look forward.”

Celtic’s biggest problem has been at the back. They have conceded at least two goals in each of their last five matches in Europe.

This more than any other reason is why Celtic have taken only two points from four games and are bottom of the group.

Rogic said: “It's obviously not been good. There have been sloppy mistakes individually which haven't helped.

"But we've been working hard to correct that. At the weekend we kept a clean sheet against Kilmarnock and that was positive.”

Rogic likes the idea of a Celtic game taking place in the United States, and such a match could go ahead this season if Dundee get their way.

The Aussie said: “Playing abroad would be a chance to get Scottish football some exposure. Being at Celtic, I know we have a massive fan base.

"If we went to the States for a game it would give the fans over there an opportunity to see us play. I think that would only be a positive experience.

"I know from going back home to Australia that there are Celtic supporters all over the world.

"I wasn't part of the team when they went out there for pre-season. It would be nice to go home to play a game for Celtic but travel wise it's a bit too far."

Rogic's Celtic career has only just begun and he is keen to stay in Glasgow for some time to come.

He said: "I hope I am at Celtic for years to come. I’m definitely settled here, I enjoy it, and the club were very supportive over the last 12 months.

"I feel good and believe I am in the right place to move forward.”
