CALLUM McGREGOR is living proof that patience and hard work will bring you good things at Ronny Deila's Celtic.

That's two goals in two games for the 22-year-old who has come in from the cold in recent weeks and once again looks a serious player.

McGregor could have sulked while out the picture, but instead decided to do all he could to show his manager that he was worth another chance.

McGregor said: "Every player wants to play, especially when you drop out of the team and find it hard to get back in.

“The manager noticed the work I’ve been doing behind the scenes at Lennoxtown and in the gym.

“It’s been great to get my chance, score another goal and do well. Hopefully I can stay in the team now.

“This is a big period for me. I want to kick on. Being out of the team was a learning curve and a new experience for me.

“That is now behind me and it’s time to move on and stay in the team for as long as possible.

“I like that central role, I played there in the youths and I feel comfortable in there – but I will play anywhere."

McGregor could easily have cashed in his chips at Celtic and moved on.

However, that's not in his character and all he wants now is to stay at the club he loves.

McGregor said: "I don’t think I ever thought I’d be better moving on.

“When I came back from Notts County last summer, I got my chance straight away and hit the ground running.

“Then I fell out the team but everybody told me that can happen. You take a dip but you need to come back even stronger.

“Hopefully that is the case for me. This is a great club and I want to be here for 10 years.

“I don’t have any desire to move on. I want to stay at Celtic and stay in this team.

“The manager was always good with me. He told me to try and get back in the team.

“He believes in me and always has. Even when I wasn’t in the team, he put his arm round me and said that I would get a chance.

“He told me to keep going and he’s been true to his word. That’s been great."
