For the first time this season Aberdeen really took full advantage of Celtic’s recent slips when they came back from a goal down against Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.

Celtic head off to Firhill at lunch-time tomorrow and I don’t think you can underestimate the magnitude of the remaining ten league games.

I think we can all appreciate the fact that there is a title challenge on, albeit that Celtic have a much better goal difference and still have a game in hand.

There was a definite improvement in performance levels last weekend with what was a routine victory over Morton but it is important that it is sustained.

The victory was expected and fairly mundane but it does help confidence levels.

There is an aspect of a home performance just now at Celtic Park in which the anxiety from the terraces also plays a part and there are periods in games when you can sense the agitation of the crowd.

In some ways it may actually help Celtic to play away from home this weekend and next when they are down at Rugby Park.

Thistle, of course, will look to capitalise on any frailties that they scent within Celtic.

The Jags lost midweek to Aberdeen but they will not be giving a damn about what is going on at the top of the table. Their only interest will be to try and push for a top six place and finish their own season relatively successfully.
