Leigh Griffiths and Kieran Tierney have not just been nominated for the SPFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards – they will both win them.

The simple reason is that they have been head and shoulders above everyone else.

Barrie McKay merits his inclusion because he has had a decent season too, but I think that Tierney has been by far and away the best young player in the country this season.

I have to say too that Mark Warburton would get my vote for the Manager of the Year. He has had an excellent season.

But, whoever is coming into Celtic this summer will know that they have a massive amount of work to do in order to get the team ready for the early qualifiers.

I do wonder whether this is the time when Dermot Desmond might think about breaking his own financial strategy to bring in a manager who would carries the weight and appeal that would immediately endear him to the support.

As I have said already, there is never a guarantee with any player or manager, but you do things that give you the best chance of success. In this case, that is experience and a solid reputation.

Paul Lambert is the latest name to go into the hat and it remains to be seen where the club go now.

There have been some suggestions about Davie Moyes heading back to Everton but I still maintain that with a bit of persuasion he could be a genuine possibility for Celtic.
