Hoops striker Ryan Christie was delighted to end the season by getting his first goal for the club.

The striker netted in the 7-0 rout of Motherwell at the weekend as Celtic were presented with the Ladbrokes Premier League trophy.

There were few chances for the striker to impress this season after joining Celtic from Inverness Caledonian Thistle last summer, and there was some relief at getting his first goal for the club out of the way.

I was a bit disappointed at half-time as, although we went in cruising in the game, I was annoyed that I hadn’t found the back of the net but thankfully it came in the second half," he told the Celtic View.

“I was just delighted but it was more relief as I would be frustrated if I didn’t score after missing that easy chance in the first half.

“My whole family were down for the game so it was nice for them to be here and see it. The atmosphere was unbelievable. From the moment we walked out of the tunnel it was incredible and I really enjoyed it.”

The game brought an end to Ronny Deila's reign at the club and Christie will now have a new manager to impress this summer.

Brendan Rodgers is Celtic's preferred candidate as the club look to replace the Norwegian and Christie is eager for the challenges of a new campaign.

He added: “The way we played the whole game was absolutely brilliant. We wanted to make it a nice occasion for the manager.

“ It’s easy to go into party mode as soon as you win the league but by performing like we did on Sunday, we showed that we are the best team in the league.

“I’m delighted that I managed to get a run-out towards the end of the season. It’s been brilliant and to play up front was terrific. I already can’t wait for pre-season to begin and hopefully we can have more successful days like this.”
