JOE ALLEN'S agent says his high salary demands would be a ‘massive issue’ if Celtic were to move for the Liverpool playmaker.

The Welsh international starred under new Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers at Swansea City before the Northern Irishman signed him for the Anfield club.

A Parkhead reunion has been speculated on after a season in which Allen has made just 19 Premier League appearances.

However, the 26-year-old’s agent Glenn Corcoran told the Daily Record that a move was unlikely due to the costs of the operation.

Rodgers became the highest paid manager in Scottish football history when he signed a £45,000 per week deal at Celtic Park, but Allen currently earns the same figure for the Reds.

“The club have not spoken to us about selling him. I haven’t given any thought whatsoever to it with regards to Celtic or any club,” said Corcoran.

“If Liverpool were willing to sell – and that is a big ‘if’ because I’ve not had that conversation with the club – they would ask for too much money for him.

“I don’t know if Celtic at this moment would be willing to spend that sort of money and the wages would also be a massive issue.”

Allen joined the Reds for £15 million in 2012, but his future is unlikely to be decided until after Euro 2016, where he will star for Wales.
