CRAIG GORDON can’t wait to get started under new Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers as the Hoops set their sights on six-in-a-row next season.

Hundreds of supporters queued outside the Parkhead ticket office on Monday to get their hands on tickets for the upcoming campaign as excitement builds for the Rodgers revolution.

The arrival of the former Liverpool manager has given the green and white faithful a much-needed shot in the arm after a low key end to Ronny Deila’s time in Glasgow.

Celtic return to pre-season training in a couple of weeks ahead of another crack at the Champions League and the defence of their Premiership crown.

And keeper Gordon is relishing the chance to work with the Northern Irishman as he looks forward to the big kick-off.

He said: “The players are very excited. They’re looking forward to working hard and getting back in to pre-season and to learn how the new manager wants us to play.

“Everybody has a personal goal, whether that’s to get more games or to stay in the team, everyone is going to be right up for pre-season and giving it their best to be in that starting XI come the first game.

“The manager has been successful everywhere he has been. He has a great track record in terms of getting winning teams on the pitch, but also the style of play is something the Celtic fans are going to be excited at watching.

“So I think it’s great for everybody. It’s a huge appointment and I’m looking forward to getting into pre-season and seeing what my role is within that and trying to carry that out the best way I can.”

Rodgers has spent the days since his Parkhead unveiling preparing for the new campaign and studying his squad as he looks to bolster his ranks in the coming weeks.

Gordon has been a mainstay of the Hoops side since arriving at the club two years ago but the 33-year-old will take nothing for granted this summer as he looks to make a positive impression on Rodgers.

He said: “When a new manager comes in they have their own ideas and they want to play in a specific style, and that will include me.

“I have to make sure I can show him I can adapt to that style of play, which I’m sure I can, but it’s about going out there and proving that and making sure I am in the team come the first game.

"Regardless whether anybody else comes in or if the goalkeepers remain the same at the club, the aim is the same – to go out and prove that I’m the best one here and to improve my own game.”
