Patrick Roberts was one of the shining lights for Celtic on Wednesday night and I suspect that we will see the best of the winger this season.

He has had a couple of months to bed into the team and get a feel for the Scottish game, but there is no doubt that he brings a lot of quality to Celtic.

He is the type of player who can create something from nothing and the goal that he scored against Lincoln Red Imps is one that we have already seen a few times from him in a Celtic shirt where he cuts inside and finds his way to goal.

You have to remember that he is a player whom Manchester City shelled out £12m for and I think he will make quite an impression this season. I also thought that the formation the other night allowed Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor a lot of freedom and that was reflected in a very energetic performance from both of them.

They were lively, they wanted the ball, they moved it quickly and they were able to carve open various openings. Interestingly, too, we also saw Scott Brown slotting back into a defensive position when necessary.

Starting with a back three I suspect was more to do with the opposition rather than an indication of what we will see on a regular basis but it certainly brought out a lot of movement and plenty of forward play from Celtic.
