We all know that any Cups competition can throw up a shock or too but I just wouldn’t expect to see anything like that this weekend with regards as to where Celtic are concerned.

This is a team who will be hungry to pick up where they left off and although you can never discount anything, I suspect that there will be nothing other than a professional and measured performance from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

In terms of Albion Rovers’, they can’t lose. They have won a tie that financially is a massive shot in the arm for them going through the remainder of the season and no-one will expect them to do anything.

It is simply a matter of going out and giving what they can. I would expect to Celtic to come of it comfortably. However, the other night I watched Lincoln and Ipswich and you would have to say that they were well worth their 1-0 win against Mick McCarthy’s men.

There is also always a mention whenever the Scottish Cup comes up about Gordon Strachan’s side who lost to Clyde when Roy Keane had just arrived at the club. I just can’t envisage any kind of repeat this weekend.

It is a big day for Rovers who will go out and enjoy it and there is a nice little connection there with Celtic given that Jock Stein played for Albion Rovers too.

But with a League Cup already in the bag and a 19-point lead at the top of the table, this is a Celtic side who look hungry for a Treble. There is no way that their guard will be down this weekend, despite the fact it is their first game since the win over Rangers on Hogmanay.
